Our team is looking for a hands-on summer intern to help establish new and existing processes on Applied equipment. You will work closely with process engineers within a clean room and will develop, characterize and sustain processes on state-of-the-art semiconductor processing equipment. This is a hands-on position with most of the work to be accomplished inside the MIT Nano cleanroom located in Cambridge, MA This opportunity exposes chemistry, physics or material science majors to the complex and exciting world of microchip research and manufacturing. You will play a key role developing new processes for Applied's customers as well as researchers, gaining valuable experience in many aspects of nanotechnology used to fabricate novel devices. 2026 Summer internship program start/end dates: Tuesday, May 26 - Friday, August 14 Monday, June 8 - Friday, August 28 Monday, June 15 - Friday, September 4

Requirements

  • Student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or related field with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be able to perform hands-on work within clean room facility.
  • Must be available for a minimum of 12 weeks this summer (prefer longer)
  • Must comply with all relevant Applied's and the lab's safety programs
