Repsol is seeking an engineering student to intern with the Technical E&P Production Engineering Excellence Center during the summer of 2026., based out of The Woodlands, TX. At the end of your internship, you will present your summer project to our staff. Internship Details: Position will be supported onsite, M-F, non-exempt (hourly) 40 hrs. per week, at our office in The Woodlands, TX. Students must be available for the full duration of the internship from May 18-Aug 7. Interns will receive an hourly wage but are not eligible for benefits or paid time off. Interns will be compensated for observed company holidays. Non-local candidates may be considered provided they meet the required qualifications and understand they are responsible for any travel to/from the Houston area and summer housing. Job Description The Production Engineering Intern will work closely with the Production Engineering team within the Technical E&P Excellence Center, supporting Repsol’s U.S. operated assets. The candidate will spend time both in the field and in the office and will be assigned a meaningful summer project under the supervision of a senior Production Engineer.

Requirements

  • Fully authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally, we are not authorized for employment under OPT/CPT/F1 visa programs.
  • Undergraduate (or higher) degree in progress in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Students with an expected graduation in 2027–2028 are encouraged to apply (juniors or sophomores). May 2026 graduates may be considered only if enrolled in a post‑graduate program.
  • Must have a cumulative and major GPA of 3.3 or higher, confirmed with transcript (unofficial acceptable).
  • Must be available for a continuous 12‑week period for the duration of the 2026 summer intern program, starting May 18 and ending August 7.
  • Strong interest in production engineering, well performance, upstream operations, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and organized.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks with responsibility and precision.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies, software, and engineering tools.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Willingness to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for candidates with some internship experience, ideally within oil & gas, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Exposure to upstream field operations, including daily production monitoring, artificial lift systems, wellsite equipment, facility operations, and surface network components.
  • Support production optimization initiatives, such as decline analysis, well performance diagnostics, and identifying opportunities to improve uptime and reduce deferment.
  • Analyze and visualize production data using engineering software and company databases to support troubleshooting and reservoir/production evaluations.
  • Participate in well reviews and operating meetings, gaining insight into cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Reservoir Engineering, Integrity, and HSE teams.
  • Assist with field trials and diagnostics, such as chemical treatment reviews, plunger lift evaluations, or artificial lift performance assessments (as applicable to asset).
  • Contribute to efficiency and reliability improvements, including data quality enhancements, process mapping, documentation updates, or optimization tool development.
  • Conduct other activities as needed.
