About The Position

Primary responsibility includes supporting assigned work centers. This is done through generation of “pick lists” supporting defined production schedules for current day plus five and pick and stage required components per “pick lists”. Count component inventories to ensure M2K reflects accurate inventories and request cycle counts to correct inventory inaccuracies. Assist in determining root cause for inventory inaccuracies, generate daily expedite reports covering current day plus five. Communicate expedite reports timely to manufacturing and purchasing and follow-up to ensure component availability as required by production schedule. Notify production scheduling of finish parts that will not have component availability as scheduled. Perform material transfers. Maintain a neat, clean, and organized central stores area utilizing 5S methodology. Practice first in first out inventory management. Support or perform receiving functions when necessary. Relevance and Importance of this Position at Centro, Inc. The Storekeeper position plays an important role in the achievement of Centro's strategic plan stretch goals and quality objectives. The accurate and reliable identification and movement of materials throughout the facility is necessary in order to produce quality products. We rely on the Storekeeper to have the right components and products in the right place at the right time. Without the Storekeeper's reliable and accurate performance in this area, our ability to produce and ship only quality product is greatly compromised. Our performance in this area affects our quality and delivery performance as well as the customers overall perception of Centro. The organization of accessory components and other materials and equipment provides the environment for exceptional performance and creates a positive impression of Centro as a quality organization in which to conduct business. The Storekeeper is valuable in all areas of production and ensures our internal and external customers receive exceptional service.

Requirements

  • Must possess an ability and desire to learn and apply a wide variety of tasks directly related to the requisition and inventory processes as well as shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and assigned equipment effectively and safely to perform the essential job functions.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions, add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers, and learn and apply organizational and computer skills sufficiently to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and hear sufficiently for effective interpersonal communications and to perform essential functions of the job effectively. Must be able to judge depth, distinguish colors, detect variances visually and read measurements, computer screen data and written documents.
  • A commitment to quality, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, teamwork and safety required. Must learn and practice basic team functions, including problem solving, cooperation, communications, conflict resolution and action planning.
  • Must achieve the competencies defined in Centro’s Quality System in order to become, and continue to be qualified for this position.
  • Must be able to grasp, feel and handle product, lift and carry product weighing up to 30 pounds continuously, carry product weighing up to 50 pounds periodically, stand for long periods, walk and climb stairs, stoop, reach and bend and pass physical exam.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education and experience in manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Forklift license preferred. First Aid and CPR training and current certification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Works safely at all times and complies with safety regulations regarding the use of protective equipment and devices, keeping guards in place at all times.
  • Has a working knowledge of and performs duties in accordance with Centro's policy, objectives, and documented quality system including detailed work instructions located on the Intranet.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and organized central stores area utilizing 5S when appropriate.
  • Cross-trains with the Materials Receiving Coordinator and is able to perform receiving functions on an as needed basis.
  • Practices a first in first out method (use oldest parts) first when filling requests and organizing inventory.
  • Neatly puts away incoming received and approved components and scans locations into the system.
  • Monitors the location of inventory of purchased parts in the central stores area. (This does not include parts currently in use at the work center areas and also does not include corrugated packaging, graphics, and pigment).
  • Prioritizes and pulls requests from manufacturing associates for bill of materials component items based on the time requested.
  • Pull requests based on the systems generated "pick list" and scans items out.
  • Stages completed requests and notifies material handling for delivery to the appropriate work center.
  • Communicates any stock outs or short ships based on quantity requested versus quantity on hand per the work instructions.
  • Manages stock out times and updates work centers when stock out items arrive to stores.
  • Puts away returned components from manufacturing work centers.
  • Consolidates partial shipments of like components.
  • Performs daily and weekly audits of component locations based on reports generated by the system. Assists in other inventory checks or cycle counts, as required.
  • Offers suggestions relative to job improvements such as methods, procedures, and ways of doing things, housekeeping, safety, etc.
  • Maintains records and reports as required.
