About The Position

This position is located in the Retirement Processing Section of the Retirement Systems Division. This position is responsible for processing estimate requests, service purchases, affidavit calculations, service audits, and earnable allowance request.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.
  • Ability to initiate and install administrative programs and procedures and to evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, officials, and the general public.
  • Bachelor’s degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting research activities.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training or instructional programs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs service audits by reviewing member history and employer reports to determine months of creditable service; research gaps in employment history; analyzes service related to disability requests.
  • Processes refunds to employers where contributions were made inappropriately and must be returned; research non-contributory time associated with Workers’ Compensation and disability.
  • Verifies information with employer on employment dates, employment gaps, length of service and any other member history.
  • Estimates the cost-of-service purchases such as Military, other state, and withdrawn.
  • Calculates estimates concerning members with State and Local service credits
  • Contacts employer if there is an error in reporting or if there are gaps in the provided information.
  • Discusses service purchases and options associated with members possessing State and local service credits.
