About The Position

The Program Coordinator – Market plays a key role in ensuring our pantry market operates smoothly and provides a welcoming, dignified experience for neighbors accessing food. This position coordinates the daily operations of the market and the Order Ahead program, working closely with staff and volunteers to ensure food is stocked, organized, and distributed efficiently. The ideal candidate is organized, mission-driven, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, compassion, and problem-solving are essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in food distribution, nonprofit programs, volunteer coordination, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate volunteers and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort using basic technology and data systems.
  • Passion for serving the community and supporting neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
  • Work in both an office and outdoor environment.
  • Requires work schedule flexibility with occasional weekend and evening availability.
  • Requires little to minimal work supervision.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 40 pounds.
  • Work takes place in both office and warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily pantry market operations to ensure efficient and neighbor-centered food distribution.
  • Maintain organized and well-stocked market shelves.
  • Oversee market preparation, restocking, and end-of-day reset.
  • Monitor product levels and coordinate with the Inventory Coordinator to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Support volunteers and volunteer leaders during market shifts.
  • Assist neighbors during market hours and ensure a welcoming experience.
  • Coordinate daily operations of the Order Ahead online ordering program.
  • Assist neighbors with placing orders and scheduling pickups.
  • Support volunteers preparing and distributing orders.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability.
  • Maintain accurate program records and reporting.
  • Oversee product quality control by sorting and evaluating food according to established food safety standards.
  • Ensure volunteers follow safety procedures while working.
  • Work with inventory staff to maintain product quality and availability for both market and online programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and required reporting.
  • Assist with warehouse tasks including unloading trucks, pulling orders, and inventory organization.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, storage, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Support special distributions, programs, and events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization’s mission.
