As a Program Management Director within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Dallas, TX. The Program Director for Retail Banking Technology leads the delivery of large-scale, enterprise-wide technology programs across Retail Banking, Digital Banking, Core Banking, and Retail Operations platforms. This role oversees the execution of complex multi-year initiatives, ensures alignment between business strategy and technology delivery, and drives disciplined execution across all program and project teams. The Program Director serves as a strategic partner to senior technology and business leaders, providing governance, transparency, and leadership across planning, execution, financial management, and reporting. Job Description Oversees program managers to ensure the execution of organizational programs in support of corporate strategy. No requirement for program size. Evaluates and provides guidance during the general and detailed planning stages of organizational programs; develops strategies to ensure all projects within the program are cohesive and in line with organizational goals. Oversight and reporting for the overall program budget while working to ensure success of the program. Evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of the programs and recommends enhancements to programs based on results. Leads and develops program management teams. Builds business relationships to ensure seamless delivery and a consistent experience across multiple distribution channels. Requirements

  • Experience leading large-scale technology programs, ideally within Retail Banking or Financial Services.
  • Strong domain expertise across:
  • Retail Banking & DDA
  • Digital Banking (Online/Mobile)
  • Core Banking systems
  • Retail Operations technology platforms
  • Proven experience managing and guiding large delivery teams (50+ resources) across multiple, concurrent initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and run program governance, risk frameworks, dependency management, and integrated planning.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar program budgets, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Ability to communicate clearly at the executive level, including producing dashboards, status reports, and risk summaries.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills across business and technology organizations.
  • Experience in transforming or modernizing Retail Banking platforms (e.g., Core Banking modernization, digital channel modernization).
  • Experience in fast-paced, matrixed enterprise environments with senior-level visibility.
  • Ability to drive structure, process, and delivery discipline in ambiguous, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role.

  • Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable.
  • Industry-relevant experience is typically 8+ years.
  • At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required.
  • Proven leadership experience with a moderate to large scope of responsibility is required.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of large-scale Retail Banking Technology programs, coordinating delivery across initiatives and guiding 50+ program and project management resources to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Provide program-level governance and structure, managing cross-team dependencies, risks, milestones, and delivery plans across multiple technology and business stakeholders.
  • Drive execution discipline across program and project managers, establishing delivery frameworks, best practices to improve consistency and delivery success.
  • Partner with technology leaders, product teams, and business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into executable programs and aligned delivery roadmaps.
  • Oversee financial and resource planning for major initiatives, ensuring accurate forecasting, funding alignment, and efficient use of delivery resources.
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and insights, providing leadership with clear visibility into program health, risks, progress, and key delivery milestones.
