About The Position

JOB PURPOSE: The Programs Intern will support both Government Programs and other Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin (FAEW) programs in program development, implementation, and evaluation. The overarching purpose of this role is to support the effective delivery of FAEW programs that serve seniors, families, and communities across the region. This internship provides hands-on learning in community outreach, program coordination, and nonprofit operations. The role offers opportunities for professional development in program logistics, data tracking, compliance awareness, and relationship-based community engagement.

Requirements

  • Interest in nonprofit programs, community engagement, public service, or social impact work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement available for work-related travel).
  • Ability to pass a background check due to handling program vouchers.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service or community outreach experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Community Outreach: Conduct outreach to low-income seniors in Calumet, Oconto, and Winnebago counties to support access to nutrition programs.
  • Program Support & Implementation: Assist with the execution and evaluation of FAEW programs, including the Tribal Elder Box Program, The Monthlies Project, and other programs as assigned.
  • Voucher Distribution & Compliance: Support the distribution and management of Senior Farmers’ Market Vouchers in compliance with program guidelines.
  • Program Logistics: Assist with inventory tracking, weighing, organizing incoming products, and supporting program setup and takedown activities.
  • Data & Documentation: Perform data entry, maintain accurate program records, and track key program metrics to support reporting and evaluation.
  • Impact & Storytelling: Collect testimonials and impact stories from program participants to support program learning and communications.
  • Partner Coordination: Communicate with program partners and stakeholders to support outreach, scheduling, and engagement.
  • Professional Exposure: Participate in cross-department collaboration and community-based activities as appropriate for intern learning.
  • Other duties as assigned, with a focus on professional development.
