About The Position

Avantor is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee project assignments from concept to closure. This will include preparatory documentation, stakeholder engagement, Scope of Work creation, cost estimation, schedule creation, solicitation of funding approvals, procurement activities, construction management, equipment qualification and validation activities, all in a ISO9000, FDA, AS9100, cGMP, ITAR, PSM environment. This is a full-time position located at our Bakersfield, CA office with occasional travel up to 25% to other Avantor/Nusil Sites (as needed). How you will thrive and create an impact Maintain knowledge in the project management discipline, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, construction, and other relevant project management processes. Work cross-functionally with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, reliability & maintenance, quality and EHS teams. Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Non-project-related work may include departmental documentation, participation in various initiatives as a team member or Subject Matter Expert, or collaboration with other departments and sites. Analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions. Collaborate closely with teams, contractors, & stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, schedules, and contracts.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical preferred) from an ABET-accredited university.
  • A minimum of 3-6 Years of Project Management experience working on design and project execution.
  • Microsoft Projects or other similar software to create and maintain project timelines.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software (AutoCAD, MS Projects, Solid Works).
  • Ability to interpret data for ROI Calculation.
  • Experience working in a team environment and leading projects.
  • Ability to work on various multi-disciplinary projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP Certification, preferred.
  • California PE registration desired.
  • Experience in a cGMP Manufacturing Environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards: ASME BPVC/B31.3, ISA 84, TEMA, NFPA 70/70E, etc.
  • Familiarity with PSM Requirements.
