As a Project Manager III within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX. The Project Manager III is a senior-level contributor responsible for leading complex, multi‑workstream technology initiatives within the Capital Markets and ALM domains. This role manages a portfolio of concurrent projects—often cross‑functional, regulatory‑driven, or high‑visibility—and ensures strategic alignment, disciplined execution, and delivery excellence. You will operate with significant autonomy, providing leadership across technology, business, compliance, and vendor teams while navigating a highly regulated environment. Requirements

  • Extensive experience managing complex technology projects or programs in regulated environments.
  • Advanced skills in project planning, schedule management, financial oversight, and risk management.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder influence, and problem‑solving ability.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross‑functional or matrixed environments.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices and modern software development processes.
  • Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role.
  • Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
  • Certifications are often desired.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple complex Capital Markets and ALM technology initiatives from initiation through delivery, ensuring strategic alignment and project integrity.
  • Oversee several complex projects simultaneously, including those within the sanctions or regulatory compliance space.
  • Define project scope, objectives, success criteria, and governance structures.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, integrated schedules, and milestones across cross‑functional teams.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, dependencies, and issues—escalating with transparency and driving resolution.
  • Lead financial management activities including forecasting, budgeting, burn‑rate tracking, and capacity planning.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for senior technology leaders, business partners, compliance, risk, and external vendors.
  • Deliver clear, executive‑ready status updates, dashboards, and reporting to support decision‑making.
  • Build strong relationships with partners and influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Champion Agile, Scrum, or SAFe delivery practices; facilitate ceremonies as applicable across teams.
  • Drive alignment across engineering, product, governance, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project activities and deliverables comply with ALM, Capital Markets, and regulatory expectations.
  • Manages the most complex projects from original concept through final implementation and post-project assessment.
  • Accountable for meeting project objectives within established timeframes.
  • May be assigned a single project or a portfolio, requiring extensive planning, oversight, and communication across multiple segments, channels, or lines of business.
  • Develops strategy, processes, resource allocation, budget, guidelines and support of project management team.
  • Partners with internal project liaisons to acquire resources, assigns tasks, directs activities, and controls project execution.
  • Coaches and mentors project team members.
  • Tracks and reports progress, analyzes the results based on facts, defines the products of the project, and forecasts future trends in the project.
  • Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises, devises contingency plans and recommends improvements based on results.
  • Maintains communications for governing bodies and interested parties.
  • Communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
