Position Summary The Project Manager – Merger Integration will play a critical role in driving the successful integration of two organizations following a major merger. Positioned within the PMO, this role provides cross-functional project leadership, governance, execution oversight, and structured communication to ensure seamless alignment across operations, supply chain, IT, finance, procurement, HR, pricing, commercial, and customer experience teams. This position serves as the central connector and orchestrator of integration activities, ensuring clarity, accountability, and operational readiness across all workstreams as the combined organization transitions into a unified operating model.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of planning and/or management experience focused on new store startups, store integration, or post-acquisition operational transitions.
  • 5+ years of direct team management in medium to large organizations.
  • Highly proficient in project management, with certifications such as CAPM or PMP; formal post-merger integration training strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading in fast-paced, high-growth, performance-driven matrix environments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, including strong presentation skills.
  • Strong oral comprehension and the ability to synthesize information quickly and accurately.
  • Proven relationship builder and influencer, capable of working across all levels internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities; ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
  • Dynamic, entrepreneurial, goal-driven, with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • High problem sensitivity—able to identify issues early and drive resolution.
  • Comfortable navigating shifting priorities and evolving requirements.
  • Team-oriented, able to collaborate cross-functionally, lead initiatives, and execute hands-on.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Ability to understand how data and systems integrate, using that knowledge to improve workflows and efficiencies.
  • Technologically proficient with database management, Google Workspace, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), and Smartsheet.
  • Willing to travel up to 50% as required for integration activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business, Operations, Supply Chain, IT, or related field).

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Governance · Build and maintain the integration master project plan, milestones, sequencing, and critical paths. · Establish project governance standards, documentation structures, tracking templates, and reporting cadence. · Ensure workstreams follow PMO best practices for planning, dependency tracking, issue management, and reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Workstream Leadership · Lead coordination across IT, operations, finance, supply chain, commercial, HR, and other integration groups. · Facilitate recurring workstream sessions, capturing decisions, risks, blockers, and follow-up actions. · Manage cross-team interdependencies to avoid duplication, misalignment, or conflicting priorities.
  • Communication & Executive Reporting · Prepare weekly dashboards, executive updates, and status summaries. · Maintain consistent communication across all levels of the organization, ensuring visibility into progress and risks. · Deliver clear, actionable recaps and ensure aligned understanding across all teams.
  • Risk, Issue & Change Management · Maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies). · Identify emerging risks early; drive mitigation planning with owners. · Support change-management efforts including SOP updates, process transitions, and readiness assessments.
  • Operational Readiness & Integration Execution · Support readiness milestones for Day 1, Day 30, Day 100, and beyond. · Coordinate system migrations, SKU transitions, vendor onboarding, supply chain shifts, customer communication processes, and operational cutovers. · Ensure customer, supplier, system, and operational dependencies are fully prepared prior to each milestone.
