About The Position

The FamilySearch Library is seeking an experienced and highly organized Project Manager to support the operations of the VIP Hosting & Research Services team. This role is critical in ensuring that high-profile leaders and guests receive exceptional, personalized family history products that reflect the standards, mission, and values of FamilySearch and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of complex hosting and research projects; facilitate communication among internal and external stakeholders; and support team operations to ensure seamless and professional service delivery. This is a two‑year, time-bound position running from March 2026 through March 2028 . Purpose Statement FamilySearch is dedicated to the sacred mission of uniting families for eternity. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in a related field
  • Background in library, archival, research, or educational settings.
  • Experience overseeing genealogical research projects from planning through completion.
  • Genealogical credential (Certified Genealogist® or Accredited Genealogist®)
  • Familiarity with FamilySearch.org tools and resources, including Historical Records, Images, Family Tree, Memories, Catalog, and Wiki.
  • Experience supporting VIP or executive-level guests.
  • Proficiency with project tracking systems, Microsoft 365 tools, and CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce).

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution Develop comprehensive project plans that define scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and required resources. Coordinate project kickoff activities and ensure all stakeholders understand expectations and deadlines. Track project progress, anticipate emerging needs, and adjust plans to maintain schedule and quality.
  • Team Coordination & Leadership Facilitate collaboration among VIP staff, library research specialists, department representatives, and leadership teams. Lead regular project check-ins, monitor assignments, and help resolve roadblocks. Provide clear direction, communicate priorities, and ensure timely completion of tasks. Foster a positive, professional, and mission-centered working environment.
  • Stakeholder Communication Serve as the primary operational point of contact on research projects with library staff, internal partners, and external collaborators. Prepare and deliver concise status reports, project updates, and documentation for leadership and stakeholders. Ensure all project communications uphold high standards of professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Risk, Issues, & Change Management Identify potential risks or challenges early and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies. Escalate critical issues in a timely manner and work collaboratively to coordinate solutions. Manage scope or schedule changes, ensuring they are documented, evaluated, and communicated effectively.
  • Operational & Administrative Support Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules, and workflows. Support the team’s use of operational systems such as Salesforce, scheduling tools, and reporting platforms. Assist with project debriefs and continuous improvement reviews.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Ensure all deliverables—including research portfolios, pedigrees, and books—meet established quality standards. Gather feedback, analyze outcomes, and recommend enhancements to workflows, tools, and processes. Promote consistency, efficiency, and operational excellence across the VIP Hosting & Research Services team.
  • Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with Family History Department representatives, library research teams, administrative staff, Publishing Services Department, and Church vendors and contractors. Represent the FamilySearch Library professionally in meetings, planning sessions, and public-facing interactions. Support efforts that elevate the visibility, effectiveness, and reputation of the VIP Hosting & Research Services team.
  • VIP Hosting Administrative Support Coordinate hosting‑visit requests with Church leaders, Church Hosting directors, Family History Department representatives, and community leaders, ensuring accurate visit details and timely communication. Use Salesforce to track hosting visits, including guest information, event details, staff assignments, research and hosting hours, visit reports, etc. Provide logistical support for hosting visits by arranging room reservations, managing calendar appointments, and setting up rooms in advance of guest arrival. Maintain accurate hosting statistics, including the number of hosting visits, guests served, and staff hours.
