About The Position

This position reports to the Chief of Staff of the State Attorney’s Office (SAO) or designee and is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the communications and public relations plan for the SAO, along with necessary marketing, graphic design, and social media content, contributing to the development and management of internal and external website content and appearance. Work may include preparation of video content, graphics, presentations, speeches, talking points, print materials, and other documents as assigned. Employee must be able to establish priorities and schedule workflow.

Requirements

  • Four years of education and/or professional experience in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field that includes experience in the following: copy writing, graphic layout and design, social media marketing, or video production is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of social media platforms and channels.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively complete assignments and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced competency in PowerPoint, including layout, embedded video content, and data presentation.
  • Experience in graphic design and use of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, and Premiere Pro are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the communications team to research, craft, develop, and implement an Integrated Communications Plan to advance the SAO’s brand identity, broaden awareness, and increase the visibility of the SAO’s mission, programs, and priorities across key stakeholder audiences.
  • Create video content from inception to presentation, including writing, shooting, producing, and editing.
  • Assist with development of strategy and plans for proactive and reactive communications related to media and agency social media channels.
  • Ensure that external communications align with the voice of the State Attorney and the office. Ensure universal quality communications. Keep messaging relevant, relatable, and responsive.
  • Develop executive-level speeches and presentations. Draft press releases in coordination with the communications team.
  • Responsible for grammatical and stylistic accuracy, consistent with AP Style.
  • Write effectively and compellingly to convey impactful information and present the office in a manner consistent with the SAO’s mission and culture.
  • Execute the office’s communications and social media strategies via the agency’s website, Intranet, social media channels, and other methods as prescribed.
  • Contribute to the SAO’s media strategy and public outreach through social media content creation and planning.
  • Recommend best practices in social media to optimize engagements and traffic and maximize Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Write, edit, and review content for external marketing and communication materials, including brochures, flyers, and other materials.
  • Help design and draft content for SAO annual reports.
  • Plan, research, develop, market, produce, present, and write promotional, educational, instructional, and informational material regarding agency or division programs.
  • Maintain and operate assigned video and audio-visual equipment as required.
  • Ability to understand and interpret laws, rules, regulations, and policies applicable to the unit to which assigned.
  • Assist in the coordination of the State Attorney’s public events and in preparation of briefing materials.
  • Generate and manage reports for the communications team and State Attorney as requested.
