About The Position

Seasonal position (temporary employment approximately 9-10 months) that will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and construction work servicing Weld County roads and bridges. Health insurance benefits available for seasonal positions. Opportunities to obtain Commercial Motor Vehicle License while employed.

Requirements

18 years of age or older.
Must effectively present information in one-on-one situation with the public, subordinates, and supervisors.
Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10’s and 100’s.
Perform these operations using units of money, weight, measurement, volume and distance.
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and make appropriate day to day decisions without supervisory guidance to perform assigned tasks.
Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
Candidate must pass background check prior to employment start date.
Candidate must pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date.
This position will participate in random substance use screening.
Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date.
DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State
Must possess a valid, regular Colorado driver's license by the employment start date and maintain a valid license for the duration of employment.
Applicants offered positions must obtain a Colorado State Flagger Certification prior to being hired.
Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position.
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening.
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.
Candidate must pass a physical demands evaluation post offer screen compatible to this position.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Act as a flag person for construction activities on various Weld County roads during the summer work season.
Perform work in a courteous and safe manner.
Follow instructions from senior employees.
Effectively communicate verbally through radio.
Maintain a courteous helpful attitude when contact with the public is required.
Assist in moving equipment.
Perform manual labor duties.
Report/record data as per departmental requirements.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees and the public.
Assist with snow desk, emergency operation responsibilities, and work extraordinary hours in such cases, including night-time hours, weekend and/or holidays.
Assist Supervisor, foreman, and co-workers with assignments and tasks requiring independent and individual contribution.
