About The Position

Position at Pilgrim's Quality Assurance Supervisor WACO PREPARED FOODS FACILITY (Waco, Texas). Must be willing to work night shift SUMMARY This position is responsible for supervision of quality programs, including the planning and implementation of the quality management program. Also supervises product specification testing and other highly complex quality programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as production demands may require. Organizes and coordinates the activities of quality team around implementation of quality and food safety programs and standards. Recommends new quality policies and procedures as necessary to ensure high quality products, processes and services. Communicates programs and standards to quality team and other plant employees. Coordinates training. Conducts other tests, microbial testing and assigned projects. Maintains good communication and working relationship with the quality team and operations and USDA personnel. Ensures that all USDA regulations are followed and that Pilgrim's and customer quality programs meet or exceed customer requirements. Responsible for developing, maintaining and directing the work schedules of hourly employee Supervising QA procedures to assess product quality coming into the plant and product quality during processing, cutting, marinating, deboning, packaging and shipping. Supervising product and cooler temperature, accuracy of net weights; appropriate tares, product rotation and marination pick up percentage. Responsible for product specifications, following through of new SKU's; correct labeling of product. Responsible for assigned daily, weekly and monthly reports. Maintaining good communication and working relationships with appropriate QA, production and USDA personnel. Conducting other tests, microbial testing and projects assigned. Directing the work schedules of hourly employees. Training new employees within the department. Ensuring safety procedures are followed. Ensuring all customer requirements are met and exceeded Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client. Requirements

  • Previous Supervisory experience required; in a poultry/food environment a plus.
  • Must have an understanding of USDA and OSHA regulations.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to become well versed in customers' quality programs in short period of time.
  • Must have good leadership skills.
  • Must be dependable, prompt and willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties.
  • The employee must also complete training on basic principles of HACCP and SSOP, as well as GMP training.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee frequently is required to talk or hear, and climb or stoop.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • The employee is required to wear a hair net, beard net (if necessary,) gloves, a smock, slip proof boots, waterproof aprons, and ear protection.

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • SAP experience a plus.
