Quality Control Intern - Solutions Department: Quality/Regulatory, Solutions Location: Carol Stream, IL Type: 12 Week Internship Summary: This internship will introduce the intern to Quality Control processes in a manufacturing environment. The intern will learn about food safety programs and how they are implemented. The intern will assist with ongoing projects to optimize existing Quality software systems. There will be exposure to a laboratory environment where the intern may assist Chemists with sample and method preparation. This internship will primarily focus on technical data entry, analysis, and reporting (70%), with some laboratory work (20%) and other manufacturing-floor projects (10%). Duties would include, but not be limited to, the following: Support the global ingredient alignment project. Review product categories with Regulatory and R&D. Enter raw material product categories into Product Vision. Enter harmonized product specifications into Product Vision. Run reports on historical ingredient usage and identify products eligible for obsolescence. Work with the R&D team to verify status and request obsolescence in ERP and associated systems. Assist with the organization of Quality Systems documentation. Archive obsolete reports and documents. Review physical inventory of laboratory chemicals, request ISO certificates for new materials, and update inventory in LIMS. Update testing methods in LIMS to align with current practices. Update testing costs for third-party laboratories in LIMS and provide reports to the Pricing team. Create a reporting process to capture actual testing costs for third-party samples, including standard, rush, and top-rush charges with corresponding reason codes. Monitor laboratory processes to identify opportunities for improved ergonomics and efficiency. Assist with the organization of data. Assist with data collection and storage for annual validations. Shadow and support all Quality teams on campus as projects allow. Expected outcome of internship: Reporting system to capture actual third-party testing costs. Categories entered in Product Vision for Raw Materials. Familiarity with Food Safety programs and how various programs are used to reduce a variety of different risks inherent to the supply chain and manufacturing. Become familiar with lab practices, will have practical experience of handling chemicals, instruments, reading methods, entering and interpreting results.
