About The Position

Broadata Communications, Inc. (BCI) is a privately held California-based corporation and a leader in developing innovative, market-driven products for the transmission of digital multimedia (video, audio, and data) over fiber. Our clients include world leaders in industries spanning entertainment, broadcast, medical, professional audio/video, house of worship, education, government, military, and transportation sectors. We are seeking a talented and motivated Quality Control Technician focused on Video & Audio systems. This hands-on role is critical in ensuring the quality and reliability of our Pro AV products, directly contributing to our reputation for excellence. The QC Technician will work closely with the Engineering and Production Departments to verify product integrity and ensure adherence to specifications before release and shipment. A key responsibility of this role is the inspection of incoming raw materials using industry-standard tools. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 4–6+ years of hands-on experience in quality control within electronics, AV hardware, or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of electronic, mechanical, and cable assemblies.
  • Experience with soldering and rework per IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-A-620 standards (certification preferred).
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, vision measurement systems (VMS), and related inspection tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, BOMs, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience documenting inspections and nonconformances within QMS or ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 environments required

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Experience with soldering and rework per IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-A-620 standards (certification preferred).
  • ISO 13485 experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to Lean/5S or structured problem-solving methods preferred.
  • Degree in Engineering or related technical field is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of incoming inspection activities, ensuring raw materials and components meet company and customer specifications.
  • Implement and execute AQL-based incoming inspection processes.
  • Perform inspection of AV hardware, electronic assemblies, mechanical components, and cable assemblies.
  • Verify dimensional requirements, labeling accuracy, configuration control, workmanship, and packaging.
  • Identify, document, and process nonconforming material within the Quality Management System (QMS) or ERP system.
  • Perform failure analysis and assist in structured root cause investigations.
  • Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) and support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities as required.
  • Assist in resolving internal and customer quality issues through technical evaluation and documentation.
  • Develop and update inspection instructions, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to address hardware concerns and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
