About The Position

The Quality Improvement Analyst II is responsible for performing comprehensive data analysis and visualization to support health care quality improvement initiatives using tools such as Tableau, SQL, SNOWFLAKE, and Databricks. This role involves synthesizing and analyzing health care quality metrics, developing dashboards, and providing data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions. The analyst will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, serve as a subject matter expert on clinical quality measures, and ensure compliance with analytic components regulatory deliverables. Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with data analytics and data visualization (coding and dashboard creation) with a strong focus on quality improvement or regulatory reporting, including minimum 2 years’ experience in a health-related field OR Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, math, public administration, or health-related field with minimum 3 years’ experience in data analytics and data visualization (coding and dashboard creation) with a strong focus on quality improvement or regulatory reporting, including minimum 1 year experience in a health-related field OR Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, math, public administration, or health-related field with minimum 2 years’ experience in data analytics and data visualization (coding and dashboard creation) with a strong focus on quality improvement or regulatory reporting, including minimum 1 year experience in a health-related field
  • Knowledge Strong understanding of data quality, data analytics, and data visualization principles
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics (e.g. CCO incentive measures, Medicare Stars measures, HEDIS or other measure sets)
  • Knowledge of population health, quality of care concepts and methodologies, as well as concepts of community health and social determinants of health
  • Knowledge of health equity, inclusion and diversity frameworks and how to apply them to data analytics
  • Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of dashboard building for data storytelling and visualization
  • Strong understanding and experience working with large relational databases and platforms
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Critical thinker with ability to gather and analyze data, assess effectiveness of healthcare systems and work with system partners to develop, implement and evaluate quality improvement strategies
  • Strong interpersonal skills in support of inter/intra departmental collaboration and a shared learning environment.
  • Excellent communications skills to include verbal, written, presentations, and meeting facilitation, specifically including the ability to present statistical and technical data in a clear and understandable manner utilizing appropriate visualizations
  • Ability to interface with and assist external stakeholders (providers, OHA staff, etc.)
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and effectively plan tasks across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis Perform ongoing synthesis and analysis of health care quality metric performance and other key performance indicators.
  • Conduct intermediate to advanced analysis of key health-related metrics and program data to identify trends, forecast performance, and calculate performance targets.
  • Develop dashboards and visual assessments of health care quality metric performance and key performance indicators using claims, administrative, and/or program data.
  • Use analytic technical skills to assess the effect of key program and policy decisions to meet strategic quality improvement goals.
  • Provide data and analysis to leaders to inform strategic recommendations on health care quality.
  • Present data in an effective and understandable way and assist others in understanding how data can inform improvement.
  • Provide guidance or expertise to other analysts within I&E.
  • Projects and Collaboration Provide data and serve as metric experts on projects.
  • Effectively communicate complex analyses and data to non-technical audiences, including presenting at internal and external workgroups and committees.
  • Participate in scoping and timeline development of data analytic work.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as it relates to health care data and clinical quality metrics.
  • Represent the I&E team in cross-departmental/cross-regional workgroups.
  • Analytic Assistance and Regulatory Compliance Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on technical specifications of clinical quality measures; may serve as a resource on key data sets.
  • Provide technical and analytic support on the development and distribution of data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify professional development opportunities around quality improvement, data, data analysis, and data translation.
  • Develop, assess, and implement new metric monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Create process documentation for data and metric analytics.
  • Provide analytic components of regulatory deliverables and ensure timely submission.
  • Serve as quality improvement analytics contact to OHA or CMS for regulatory meetings/deliverables.
