Role and Responsibilities This position supports Samsung’s American Technology Office in testing wet appliance such as Clothes washers and Dish washers to support R&D for product and technology development and for simulating product failure modes for improved product robustness. This role continuously evolves by supporting different categories, including Refrigerators, Cooking products and other DA products. Specific responsibilities include: Perform lab engineer duties: Responsible for receiving, testing, analyzing, recording and reporting results of tests. Determine and perform lab tests, data analysis and reporting Able to assemble and disassemble digital appliances for analysis Organize and store digital appliances in accordance with all safety and other requirements Clean and maintain lab and lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment Serve as Point of Contact for test results, ready to discuss and answer questions Perform product safety and failure analysis relating to field quality of home appliance products Analyze and identify potential root causes of field failures. Develop testing methodology to quantify failure risk Propose comprehensive solutions to minimize safety risk

Requirements

  • The ability to make decisions and quickly adapt during lab operations
  • Must be willing to learn outside of field of expertise
  • Must have experience with engineering analysis, experimental techniques and statistical analysis Methods and MS office for reports and presentations
  • Ability to communicate in writing, through email, reports, orally and formal presentations, highly complex technical matters to an audience to both non-technical and technically-oriented listeners
  • The ability to deliver test results in a timely manner in adherence with established schedules

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or above on an engineering-related major (Mechanical Engineering/ Chemical Engineering/ Manufacturing Engineering)
  • Prior experience in engineering is preferred within the consumer appliance industry
  • Familiarity with Engineering SW: LabView MATLAB CAD
