As a Research and Development Engineering Intern, you’ll focus on designing and optimizing indicators for high-speed mechanisms, gaining valuable skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Internship Overview 1. Intern Project: LLM based expert system for Powell electrical switchgear Expected Deliverables: Prototype Large Language Model (LLM) system using Powell technical library to support technical queries related to the application and certification of Powell electrical switchgear. This system would be used by members of the R&D team to answer technical questions raised by the wider business. How does this project benefit Powell or your functional area? Everyday R&D team members are asked to function as SME’s within the wider business to support the application of Powell’s switchgear. In resolving each query, the first step is the identification of the SME for the product in question who then often refers to internal documentation to respond to the query. Through the application of an LLM, initially seeded with internal documentation and subsequent queries & responses, the ability of multiple people to function as the SME will enable an improved level of service when supporting the wider business. Emphasize your academic background in Mechanical or Power Engineering, any CAD or FEA experience, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Highlight projects or coursework related to design, prototyping, or testing, even if not directly tied to high-speed mechanisms.
