About The Position

As a Reading Interventionist at Veritas Prep, you’ll provide targeted reading interventions to students who have been identified for additional reading and literacy support. Specifically, you’ll: Provide and deliver focused tier 2 and 3 reading interventions identified by the Principal to students in small group settings. Develop and deliver school-wide interventions through creation of lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students through push-in or pull out instruction. Use a variety of instructional techniques and reading materials appropriate for the age and skill level of students for the purpose of improving student outcomes and achievement. Assist with the screening and evaluation of students. Collect and report out on data reading intervention progress data bi-weekly to the school leadership team. Aggregate and share relevant data with teachers and leaders Attend Content Team and Data Meetings Develop and deliver professional development related to supporting literacy in the classroom Provide the high-quality instruction time needed to move students to grade level proficiency. Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the school administrators. Collaborate with the school librarian to encourage independent reading and fluency across the school. Veritas Prep believes students must be explicitly taught foundational reading skills in order to become proficient readers and access our grade-level anchor texts taught in literature class. We must teach foundational reading skills to our middle school readers in order to accelerate and solidify their growth. The foundational reading skills explicitly taught by the Reading Interventionist would include direct phonics instruction and direct fluency instruction and practice. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Authorized to work in the United States, with valid work authorization in place by the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One to three years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Massachusetts DESE Elementary Licensure Preferred, or eligibility to achieve Highly Qualified status within one year of employment, demonstrated by: a passing score on the Communications and Literacy Skills (Reading and Writing) MTEL, and a passing score on the Reading Specialist MTEL (or equivalent), and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement.
