About The Position

FWI is building a team to provide clerical, administrative, and professional services as well as data management, document preparation, records management support services, and electronic records management to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). As a Records Management Specialist, you will contribute to the records and information management program by supporting the enterprise-wide inventory and file plan project, records appraisal activities, digitization efforts, and training initiatives. You will work independently on assignments and should bring strong attention to detail and effective communication skills. Position is contingent upon contract award Work Schedule and Location:On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, within 6am to 7pm at the GAO Headquarters in Washington, DC. Some hybrid work may be allowed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant Records and Information Management experience
  • High school diploma
  • Strong attention to detail and effective written communication skills
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, computers, and software (including Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Top Secret (TS) security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in an information or business discipline
  • Previous experience working with federal records
  • Familiarity with NARA policies, the Federal Records Act, and the General Records Schedule
  • Experience with SharePoint and Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMS)
  • Experience with document scanning and digitization

Responsibilities

  • Assist with agency-wide inventories of records, information, and data assets across GAO program offices
  • Support records appraisal and classification using NARA-approved retention schedules and the General Records Schedule (GRS)
  • Perform data entry, word processing, and computer-based searches across agency documents and systems
  • Assist with digitization of legacy paper records using standard office scanning equipment
  • Apply metadata to digital files and upload records to GAO's Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) or other designated storage locations
  • Support the review, storage, and maintenance of records on share drives, systems, and other repositories
  • Contribute to the development of training materials, presentations, and guides related to records management
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as assigned
  • Follow established procedures for naming, describing, and preserving records in agency systems
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews of work products
