The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking temporary Recreation Assistants for exciting, unique programs and events throughout the County. Examples of programs include elementary break camp days, skate nights, special events throughout the year, and middle school after-school programs. The Youth, Teen, and Family Programs are designed to provide youth and their families with a fun, safe, challenging, and enriching experience where they can learn, grow, and play. Requirements

  • STUDENT ASSISTANT I – Evening/Weekend Program Staff (13.50/Hourly) Responsible for assisting with planning, implementation, and facilitation of recreation programs and events; as well as collaborating with staff for the facilitation of recreational activities. Minimum Requirements: Must be enrolled in high school with less than a high school diploma. Please Note: Applicants must be 14 years old to be hired
  • RECREATION ASSISTANT (RA) II – Evening/Weekend Program Staff (17.47/Hourly) Responsible for planning, implementation, and facilitation of recreation programs and events; completing participant and program evaluations; and administrative duties. Minimum requirements: Some experience administering recreation programs or working with youth.
  • RECREATION ASSISTANT (RA) III – After School Program Assistant Director (19.49/Hourly) Responsible for assisting with supervisory and administrative duties, including planning, managing & facilitating recreation activities, and processing participant, staff/volunteers, and program evaluations. Minimum requirements: High school/GED/Equivalent; plus some experience administering recreation programs.
  • RECREATION ASSISTANT (RA) IV – After School Program Director (23.46/Hourly) Responsible for assisting with supervisory and administrative duties, including planning, managing & facilitating recreation activities, and processing participant, staff/volunteers, and program evaluations. Minimum requirements: High School/GED/Equivalent; plus considerable experience administering recreation programs, including some experience leading/supervising recreation programs. Substitution: Completion of some college coursework may substitute for the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Leading or assisting with planning and conducting recreation activities
  • Leading or assisting with completing participant and program evaluations
  • Working with individuals with disabilities and providing personal care of participants (training provided)
