Women and minorities are under-represented in this job category and are encouraged to apply. Specific Job Information: Outdoor physical labor is required. Must be able to lift and move 50lbs. The incumbent must be able to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions and irregular hours. Must be able to navigate stairs, steep slopes, rocky terrain, forest & brush environments, flat water and swift river water (including boats & docks); all while under possible inclement weather and uneven outdoor work environments. The incumbent must be in good overall physical condition to withstand the rigors and demands of outdoor work. Job Duties: The duties of this position will vary depending upon conditions, but will generally be required to patrol the Blackfoot FASs, collect data from surveys and other monitoring equipment, identify hazards and act on them accordingly and assist in other routine responsibilities as needed. This position will primarily be required to work Friday through Monday, and normally the days off will be Tuesday through Thursday. Other workdays might arise as needed; these additional workdays might include special events, holidays, or coverage during a coworker’s absence. Typically, 10 hours per day, for a 40-hour work week. The positions will begin in early June and continue through September to best ensure that the FAS sites have adequate staffing, and our river ranger has assistance from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in park and or recreation management, archeology, geology, or related fields. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
