About The Position

Join our team as we prepare to open a brand‑new Ambulatory Surgery Center this summer! In the Referral Care Coordinator role, you will be the central hub for coordinating orthopedic referrals, securing insurance authorizations, and scheduling a high volume of orthopedic procedures. Your work ensures that patients move smoothly through every step of their care—from initial referral to procedure scheduling—while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior computer experience required.
  • Customer service experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of insurance coverage (FSC/Coverage/Plan types) and Medical Necessity policies preferred.
  • Experience with medical records software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and process referrals for patients, coordinating with both referring and receiving practices or departments.
  • Obtain all necessary insurance authorizations.
  • Direct patients to providers within their insurance network.
  • Review and explain benefits to patients, ensuring they understand their coverage.
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, and other services with internal and ancillary providers.
  • Prepare and communicate financial estimates for patients (as applicable).
  • Review and confirm schedules, ensuring accuracy and proper time allocation.
  • Follow up on all referrals to eliminate care gaps and maintain continuity.
