The Role: Regional EHS Director, Construction The Regional Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (Construction) role owns the design, execution, and scaling of a world-class EHS program across one of the companys most complex and high-risk construction portfolios. Operating at the intersection of hyperscale data center delivery, private-equity oversight, and zero-tolerance safety expectations, this leader is accountable for embedding EHS into the DNA of how the business plans, builds, and delivers mission-critical infrastructure. With billions of dollars in active construction and multiple concurrent programsincluding greenfield builds, utilities, substations, and accelerated schedulesthis role requires a hands-on, highly credible professional who can set the standard for what good looks like, influence without bureaucracy, and drive consistent outcomes across stakeholder teams, general contractors, and an extended supply chain. Success in this role is measured not only by regulatory compliance and risk reduction, but by the ability to enable customer commitments, protect long-term enterprise value, and ensure the safe, uninterrupted delivery of hyperscale environments where failure is not an option. This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a construction-focused EHS program at scale, partner deeply with senior construction and design leaders, and shape an enterprise platform poised for sustained growth. This role is based in the Las Vegas Metro area. Remote work is not an option.

Requirements

  • Progressive experience leading construction-related EHS programs with responsibility across multiple sites or projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and sustaining EHS programs and training.
  • Experience managing EHS professionals and influencing contractors and external partners.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and dashboard tools such as Power BI.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • A leader who sets clear expectations and holds teams and partners accountable for safety outcomes.
  • Sound judgment in ambiguous situations, using multiple data points to make decisions that reduce risk and support business goals.
  • Direct, clear communication with employees, contractors, regulators, and business partners.
  • Comfort addressing conflict, enforcing standards, and escalating issues when required.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills across multiple concurrent projects and sites.
  • A practical, improvement-focused approach to safety that balances compliance with real-world execution.
  • High emotional intelligence and influence, with a low-ego, ownership mindset and the ability to drive results through people.

Nice To Haves

  • Approximately 10+ years of construction safety experience with increasing scope and accountability.
  • Successful track record within large-scale, mission-critical, complex construction environments.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Professional safety certifications such as CSP, CHST, or ASP.

Responsibilities

  • Own regional construction EHS strategy and execution across multiple sites, ensuring consistent standards, practices, and outcomes.
  • Lead EHS compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental compliance and required recordkeeping.
  • Partner with construction, operations, legal, insurance, and external stakeholders to resolve complex EHS issues and risks.
  • Set expectations and oversee third-party construction contractors and subcontractors, including review and enforcement of site-specific safety plans.
  • Manage and direct third-party safety consultants representing Switch on construction projects.
  • Oversee incident investigations that meet defined thresholds and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance, identify trends, and require corrective actions when performance falls below expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and best practices across regions and stakeholder groups.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, insurance representatives, and clients on construction EHS matters.
  • Lead regional EHS budgeting and resource planning to ensure efficient use of people, tools, and programs.
  • Manage and develop regional EHS team members, setting priorities, reviewing performance, and building capability.
  • Partner closely with operational safety teams to manage risks where construction activities impact live facilities.
  • Lead and participate in regional and departmental safety meetings.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of EHS metrics and performance data.
  • Deliver EHS training as needed to support safe execution of construction work.
