The role of the Regional Director is to generate sales by providing exceptional service to all customers and to direct all activities required to achieve sales, service, merchandise presentation/visual excellence, human resources management, loss prevention, and expense control goals within the expectations consistent with the Design Within Reach mission. You will set and monitor your own goals, as well as your Regional Stores goals. You will manage and delegate Regional Store priorities. You will report to the Vice President of DWR Stores.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of transferable retail management and multi-location responsibility
  • Travel and manage locations in the geographic area.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, deal with concerns or problems, function as a role model, and ensure sales are generated through customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales through proper management, goal setting and evaluation, Design Specialist training, staff recognition, and personal effort.
  • Achieve Store and Regional goals: drives sales to achieve Regional profit goals through sales generation, promotion of outstanding customer service, merchandise presentation, hosting Store design events, loss prevention, and inventory and expense management.
  • Ensure Regional Store’s adherence to merchandise standards by maximizing Store and Regional sales and profitability through interpretation of visual goals and directives to create a visual impact
  • Loss prevention: ensure the Store meets its shortage goal and 100% staff compliance with loss prevention and safety procedures through awareness, training, and action. Addresses and resolves all our loss prevention or safety situations.
  • Operations and systems: manage all procedures to maximize profit (e.g., scheduling, shipment receiving, processing, transfer, and control, controllable expense and supply management), and ensures daily compliance by the staff of all Store procedure, including systems procedures, dress code, attendance, etc.
  • Statistical plans: with emphasis on sales, product knowledge, customer service, and visual excellence, meets all Store financial plans. Manage all store business files.
  • Develop a strong Store staff and Store General Managers teams: through recruitment, selection, development, and inspiration. Resolve human resource issues
  • Supports all Regional staff to maintain a positive and productive work environment, provides for delivery of all management training programs, conduct performance reviews, and spends at least 50% visiting Stores within their areas.
  • Make decisions to comply with Store, visual, and company procedures.
  • Develop, gain approval, and administer budget and payroll expenditures. Adjust scheduling and resource expenditures to support the Store’s current sales trend while maintaining overall profitability.
  • Act as second and final interview and make the decision to hire Store Design Specialist and Store Assistant / General Managers.
  • Evaluate all Store and Regional General Manager staff performance and recommend salary adjustments within company guideline.
  • Administer directions to achieve Regional compliance to operations directives, review and recommend enhancement to any company-initiated program or task request, including training and incentives, representing the field’s point of view to corporate.
  • Recommend real estate opportunities, policy and procedures changes, visual and merchandise suggestions.
  • Provide leadership, training, and direction throughout the Region by:
  • Knowledge of visual presentation techniques, ability to interpret and achieve visual goals while tailoring them to fit the Store’s sales floor configuration and space, disciplined to maintain merchandising and stock processing standards.
  • Interpret Store needs, analyze and communicate assortment issues with Store Operations.
  • Leading the Store and Region to meet its shortage goal and 100% staff compliance with loss prevention and safety procedures through awareness, training, and consistent action. Address and resolve all our loss prevention or safety situations.
  • Setting priorities, delegate, and follow-up on all Store-related issues including personnel actions, loss prevention issues, and safety standards..
  • Recruit, select, develop, motivate, and retain a successful Store and management team.
  • Communicating effectively with customers, associates, managers, outside contacts, and corporate office.
  • Making decisions concerning customer service, merchandising, and human resource issues.
  • Analyzing business trends and complete Store budgeting procedures on a Region-wide level.
