About The Position

The iFlex RN is part of Intermountain’s internal travel agency for assignments. This is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. This RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Join Our Internal Travel RN Team – iFlex Labor & Delivery Intermountain Health’s iFlex Internal Travel Agency is now hiring for a Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery position to support multiple Intermountain facilities through systemwide travel assignments. As part of our internal travel program, you will play a crucial role in caring for patients during labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period, bringing expertise, compassion, and adaptability to every assignment. About the iFlex RN Role: Labor & Delivery: As an iFlex RN, you’ll serve within Intermountain’s internal travel agency, filling high‑priority staffing needs across Labor & Delivery units. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work in fast-paced settings, and a commitment to providing safe, patient‑centered maternal care. Riverton Hospital was the first hospital in Utah to house a special pediatric unit operated by Primary Children’s Hospital. We provide state-of-the art-cancer care and treatments close to home. Patients can receive chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and infusion/IV services significantly reducing commuting and treatment time. iFlex RNs must be willing to float to other departments or nearby Intermountain facilities when not needed at their assigned location.

Requirements

  • 2 years of recent hospital RN experience
  • Current RN license in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to float between units and travel to additional Intermountain sites as needed
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical, emotional, and psychosocial assessments for laboring patients
  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to create and implement individualized care plans
  • Provide safe, evidence‑based care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery
  • Utilize critical thinking to prioritize care and respond effectively to changing patient conditions
  • Accurately monitor, assess, and document maternal and fetal well‑being
  • Educate and support patients and families through the childbirth experience
  • Uphold professional, ethical, and regulatory nursing standards in all aspects of practice
