About The Position

CVP is seeking Registered Nurses to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with long-term care services at the VA Saginaw Healthcare System. The RN will utilize their broad based clinical knowledge to effectively assess, implement health promotion and prevention interventions, manage acute and chronic illness states, assist patient/residents in the attainment of optimal levels of functioning rehabilitation, and evaluate patient/resident response to actual or potential health problems. We have full time, part-time and PRN contract opportunities available. Requirements

  • Ability to pass a government background investigation (US Citizenship required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing required
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • 2+ years providing Geriatric, Community Living or Long Term Care
  • Technical proficiency including strong computer skills and ability to learn VA electronic medical record systems

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process in managing, developing, implementing, and evaluating each resident's individual plan of care with the interdisciplinary team to attain specific clinical outcomes
  • Provide a full range of nursing care to residents with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems
  • Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others
  • Maintain patient/resident confidentiality and a safe patient/resident care environment
  • Assess and act on significant changes in the patient's/resident's health condition
  • Collect and document pertinent data into the electronic patient/resident medical record using designated templates
  • Complete nursing assessments within required time frames and in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Meet the health care needs of patients/residents by assessing and assisting them to meet expressed needs
  • Prioritize and complete tasks within the assigned shift
  • Update patient/resident care plans and notify assigned physician of any changes in condition
  • Practice the VA core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence (ICARE)
  • Document patient progress and chart the patient's response to medications and treatments
  • Perform wound care including dressing changes (sterile and non-sterile) and obtaining wound cultures as necessary
  • Provide care for tracheostomies, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, and catheters as needed
  • Perform fall risk assessments and skin assessments (Braden Scale) to identify and prevent injuries
  • Complete required documentation within established timeframes
  • Participate in quality improvement activities
