About The Position

A healthcare facility in Manhattan, NY is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical for a contract assignment. The RN will provide high-quality bedside nursing care for patients recovering from medical conditions and surgical procedures in a fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in large acute care hospital settings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience in a large acute care hospital
  • Most recent clinical experience within the past year
  • Strong skills in: Physical assessment Medication administration Wound care and infection control IV therapy Post-operative patient care Patient education Telemetry monitoring
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – State of New York with Primary Source Verification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association

  • Experience using Epic Systems EMR

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
  • Provide direct bedside nursing care for pre-operative and post-operative patients
  • Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications and treatments
  • Perform clinical procedures such as wound care, IV therapy, catheter insertion, and dressing changes
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs and clinical status , reporting adverse reactions promptly
  • Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment and interpret patient measurements
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care
  • Educate patients and families about treatment plans, surgical procedures, and recovery care
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation, charts, and health records
  • Follow established clinical standards, nursing protocols, and safety guidelines
