About The Position

Varied Hours/Varied Days. Includes every other weekend and Holidays. Shift can start as early as 6:00am and as late as 9:00am. Shift can end as early as 6:30pm and as late as 9:30pm. Performs an age specific plan of care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Collaborates with physicians and other health team members in coordinating and implementing procedures and treatments. Uses leadership skills/clinical judgment in coordinating patient care and directing/delegating activities of the patient care unit team.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment, if hired after January 1, 2013 and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of employment date.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • BLS, ACLS required.
  • Documented oncology competency preferred

Nice To Haves

  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course Preferred for hire and required to obtain with-in 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient's physiologic health status
  • Assesses patient's psychosocial health status
  • Identifies patient outcome
  • Formulates the plan of care and establishes the priorities necessary to achieve expected outcome
  • Implements the plan of care
  • Evaluates care provided for patient outcome
  • Collaborates with other care team members in planning and carrying out treatment regimen; provides direction to other members of the care team
  • Performs grade I-IV Decubitus Care
  • Administers medications correctly and safely
  • Participates in patient and family education
  • Performs related duties, as required.
