About The Position
Must Love Cats! Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) Wanted! Cats Only Veterinary Hospital is a feline-exclusive clinic, and when you walk through our doors, you will find a friendly, hard-working team of assistants and doctors, and a tranquil clinic without the chaos and noise that you might feel is indicative of working in a clinic. Cats Only Veterinary Hospital provides exams, laboratory testing, radiology, surgery, and boarding. We are a proud AAFP Gold Certified Cat Feline Friendly Practice. We have a long-standing history with many of our clients, and we pride ourselves on the relationships we have built with our clients and the expertise of our amazing doctors. Salary: $26.00 - 30.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location. Schedule: Full-time (32-40 hours per week). 8-hour shifts, Monday-Saturday. Must be willing to work on some Saturdays (rotation schedule). Cats Only Veterinary Hospital is looking for an exceptional Registered Veterinary Technician who is looking for a full-time position. We are a small clinic with one to two doctors working per day, in need of a feline fanatic to support them. This is a very hands-on position where you will be directly supporting the doctor. Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of CA, or eligible to transfer/obtain license within 3 months of hire
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a credentialed veterinary technician required
- Comfortable with "spicy" kitties and able to remain calm with fractious cats
- Skilled in performing dental radiographs and dental prophylaxis required
- Provides outstanding customer service and time management skills
- Is respectful of all team members
Nice To Haves
- Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred, but not required
- Experienced in performing simple and complex dental extractions preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in the examination and treatment of cats
- Maintain medical records and prepare reports for veterinarians
- Provide surgical support and monitor anesthesia on feline patients, including high-risk, medically complex felines
- Advanced, safe handling and positioning for digital radiographs
- Perform ultrasound guided cystocentesis
- Utilize and maintain in-house laboratory equipment (Idexx/VetScan)
- Able to utilize veterinary medical record management software
- Communicate clearly with clients, doctors, and all staff members
