Cypress Creek Solutions provides innovative operation & maintenance solutions for a variety of asset owners and a diverse portfolio of utility-scale and distributed generation solar and storage projects. A wholly owned subsidiary of Cypress Creek Renewables, Cypress Creek Solutions conducts O&M for over 4GW of solar and storage assets across more than 500 sites with a presence in 24 states for third-party asset owners and the Cypress Creek Renewables fleet. The Role Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a highly motivated Reliability Technician with utility solar experience to conduct thermographic inspections, QA/QC, reporting, and corrective maintenance on solar PV systems. This role is remote, ideally based in North Carolina, with 50%+ travel required to job sites within NC or nationwide.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Solar PV or Drone UAV experience
  • 1+ years of experience in solar PV construction or maintenance, including DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, monitoring, civil, and racking installation (preferred)..
  • Experience with testing equipment, such as thermographic electrical inspection, IV curve tracing, megohmmeters, and ground fault detection tools.
  • Proficient in the use of thermography with electrical systems (preferred).
  • Level 1 ITC Thermography certification holder (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Solar PV, including electrical and solar module components (preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Thermographic editing/analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and technology, especially in the management of large amounts of data.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technological aptitude and adaptability.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Willingness to achieve FAA 14CFR Part 107 certification in 30 days.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Training Certification.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50%+ of the time).
  • Proactive and solution-focused communication skills
  • Experience administering contracts.

  • Compliance with all safety standards and PPE requirements (hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.).
  • Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, and walk for 8-12 hours per day.
  • Availability to work Monday- Friday and occasionally on weekends.
  • Willingness to travel overnight and for extended durations.
  • Capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site drone (sUAS), handheld infrared thermographic inspections, visual inspections, and evaluations of solar photovoltaic facilities.
  • Assist in planning and executing daily activities.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections for permanent files and keep all data collected in an organized fashion, uploading said data in a timely manner.
  • Communicate abnormal findings in a clear and direct way to all necessary parties.
  • Periotic overnight travel to assist remote regions and training
  • Responsible for performing inspections as requested or deep-dive analysis of the health of solar facilities.
  • Become subject matter expert on the use of thermography within PV systems
  • Assist in the safety and flight operations training of new team members
  • Assist the regional teams in response to major storms and natural disasters.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar PV systems.
  • Conduct DC and AC testing, including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, insulation resistance testing, and I-V curve tracing.
  • Maintain tools, instruments, and inventory stock.
  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards.
