JOB PURPOSE: This position exists to support the research of SER’s Center for Carbon Capture and Conversion (CCCC) on novel, sustainable ways to convert coal to other materials. JFNTMP
Requirements
- Current UW student in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related natural science or engineering discipline.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities
- Grinding and sieving coal to prepare samples
- Operating flash pyrolysis reactor
- Cleaning reactor after runs
- Replacing and fixing components on various equipment
- Testing and analyzing flash pyrolysis products (all under the supervision of a research scientist). Testing may include Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Mass Spectrometry (MS), and Gas Chromatography (GC).
- Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Assist with laboratory testing as required.
