About The Position

The work will involve nanomaterials generally, including layered 2D materials and diamond films. Students who are on internships at Argonne will engage in hands-on projects in the center for nanoscale materials (CNM) for materials synthesis, fabrication and characterization in line with their background and the research needs of the SEEP-IT consortium through CNM user proposal mechanism. The CNM staff including Dr. Sumant will help in mentoring students and helping them with the research activities at the CNM.

Requirements

Experience in working in the cleanroom environment as well as hands-on experience in using few characterization and synthesis tools including scanning electron microscope, Raman spectroscopy and metal thin film deposition systems.
The student should be familiar with statistical analysis, graph plotting and writing a research report based on experimental work they are involved in.
Good presentation skill in presenting their results and good communication skills.
It is important that student will follow all safety training required to work in the cleanroom
The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
Applicants must be: Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution. Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application.
