About The Position

This Research Scientist position in the Khalil Lab at the Broad Institute will conduct cutting-edge research at the intersection of synthetic biology, immunology, therapeutics, and cell engineering.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, immunology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 1+ years of related experience is preferred; this may include post-doctoral experience.
  • As an independent scientific thinker, able to independently develop research concepts and design experiments.
  • Must be forward-thinking and highly innovative, with a nimble scientific/technical mind, able to rapidly develop and execute on creative solutions to technical roadblocks.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven experience working effectively across experimental and computational research groups in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to clearly and concisely describe complex experimental methods and interpret results to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing and conducting moderate scope research and experiments.
  • More specifically, the Research Scientist will develop and test therapeutic gene circuits for controlling and enhancing anti-tumor responses of primary immune cells, including T cells and macrophages.
  • Specific activities will include molecular cloning, protein design, designing and building genetic circuits, lentiviral transduction of immune cells, immune profiling, and in vivo tumor models.
  • Works within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Contribute substantively to the writing and preparation of high-impact manuscripts, grant proposals, and community resources.
