About The Position

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Scientist IV, Pardes Scholar position. The Research Scientist IV will lead and conduct research investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying serious mental illness using human genetics and multi-omic approaches. Responsibilities include designing and executing studies using postmortem human brain tissue and genomic technologies to identify molecular changes associated with psychiatric disorders. This is a full-time position (100% effort).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, psychiatry, or a related scientific discipline and five years of professional research experience, or a master's degree in a related field and four years of research experience, or a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting scientific research and a record of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.

  • D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in neuroscience, genomics, psychiatry, molecular biology, computational biology, or a related discipline.
  • Expertise in the study of psychiatric disorders using molecular, genomic, and postmortem human brain approaches.
  • Experience with genomic or multi-omic technologies and analysis of large-scale molecular datasets.
  • Experience with computational or statistical approaches for analyzing genomic data.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative research projects and contribute to extramural grant applications.
  • Experience mentoring students or research trainees in an academic research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct research programs investigating the neurobiology and genetic mechanisms of psychiatric disorders.
  • Design and implement studies using genomic and multi-omic approaches to analyze human brain tissue.
  • Analyze and interpret complex molecular and genomic datasets using computational and statistical methods.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific meetings.
  • Develop and submit grant proposals to obtain extramural research funding.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including clinicians, neuroscientists, and computational researchers.
  • Mentor trainees and research staff and contribute to the scientific environment of the department.
  • Participate in departmental academic activities including seminars, committees, and collaborative initiatives.
