About The Position

Conducts high quality and cutting-edge research and manages day-to-day activities for research projects through the Crane Center. In collaboration with others, assists in formulating innovative research questions, developing research projects, and publishing in top-tier peer-reviewed journals while managing day-to-day project deliverables. Specific duties include: providing leadership and coordination on research projects through the Crane Center, including overseeing the management of day-to-day activities, supervising staff and student workers, preparing and submitting IRB reports as needed, and keeping the Crane Center leadership team abreast of project progress and status of grant deliverables. Assisting in the development of data collection protocols, analyzing data, and making decisions about research design. Engaging in writing of scholarly reports for peer-reviewed outlets and internal/local outlets (e.g., white papers). As needed the incumbent will be responsible for developing project timelines, organizing project meetings with agendas, and maintaining records of all study activities. The incumbent will also ensure the active involvement of project collaborators, to include mentoring student assistants and graduate research associates as needed. The incumbent will aim to submit two first-authored manuscripts per year to peer-reviewed journals, and additional second- or other-authored publications as time permits. The incumbent will assist in grant writing endeavors as a team and develop project proposals independently, primarily for smaller-scale funding opportunities (internal and/or external) The successful candidate will: be a critical thinker with a demonstrated ability to be an independent researcher, produce high-quality research outputs, be innovative and collaborative; maintain and manage multiple simultaneous research projects and associated deadlines; participate in the selection of key research personnel to work on project(s) undertaken; supervise and review the work of collaborating research staff and instruct on methods and procedures necessary to achieve desired goals and meet deadlines. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Master's degree.
  • Strong background in at least two of the following areas: early childhood education, language development and pedagogy, classroom observations and practices, and quantitative analyses.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a research team.
  • Working knowledge of human subjects' protections and IRB.
