About The Position

This position, in the lab of Dr. Roberta Pelanda in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, will work with mice and human tissues and utilize cellular, molecular, genetic, immunological, in vitro and in vivo approaches to assist with investigating and elucidating the molecular mechanisms that control self-reactive B cells in tolerance and autoimmunity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to learn and properly apply lab methodologies
  • Ability to learn to analyze experimental results
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic cellular and molecular biology concepts.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

  • 6 months to 1 year working experience in an academic wet lab.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including ordering and stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas
  • Maintenance of laboratory stocks and buffers
  • Ordering and procurement of laboratory supplies
  • Taking care of mouse colony
  • DNA isolation, PCR, and DNA cloning
  • Cell culture and protein purification
  • Flow cytometry
  • ELISA
  • Assisting other lab members with their experiments
