About The Position

This position requires regular work onsite. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for providing customer, technical, and business support to users of the Research Infrastructure, Research Compliance, and Research Informatics products and services within Academic Research Services (ARS). The Research Systems Analyst will perform user support, system analysis, data migration, system demonstrations, configuration, testing, and support. They will also develop product and system documentation to support users in the use and management of various ARS Applications, Products, and Services such as RedCap, Research Analyses Environment (RAE), and InfoCommons. This will be done by working closely with various teams and departments such as Research Infrastructure, Research Compliance, Research Informatics, Central IT (Information Technology), third-party vendors, and the UCSF (University of California, San Francisco) research community. This position also involves working with a ticketing system to triage, prioritize, assign, and resolve user support requests. These can include but are not limited to assisting with configuring system functionality to meet user needs, analyzing systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, documenting use-cases, user account administration, requests for technical support, system or application errors, develop and update end user documentation, provide user training, and assist with requests for system features or enhancements. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multitenant research technology infrastructure specifically analogues to ARS. Be able to learn new systems and applications to provide adequate support for end users. They would be personable, flexible, adaptable, and able to work within defined procedures and practices to analyze complex issues and recommend appropriate action. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $108,000 - $162,000 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated application testing and test planning experience
  • Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems
  • Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, issues and documenting the actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance
  • Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
  • Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Works independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to write technical and user support documentation in a clear and concise manner

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years equivalent work experience in a multitenant research technology infrastructure specifically analogues to ARS with an emphasis in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, systems support, or related fields
  • Familiarity with research compliance applications and management of these applications
  • Experience with RedCap, RAE, and/or UCSF InfoCommons
  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions
  • Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs
  • Knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software
  • Demonstrated skill at administering moderately complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware, software and networks
  • Demonstrated understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions
  • Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements
  • Experience with application and/or system design, modification, configuration, and implementation
  • Basic knowledge of secure software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to create software specifications
  • Knowledge of research data management/analysis systems, practices and standards
  • Intermediate knowledge of relevant rules and regulations
  • Broad knowledge of various areas of IT
