About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV within the Department of Oral Biology at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM ). The Department of Oral Biology at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in Newark, NJ is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist ( RTS ) IV to support laboratory research activities. The position will contribute to projects related to wound healing, salivary gland development and regeneration, and saliva–bacteria/host–microbe interactions, using molecular, cellular, and in vivo mouse approaches in a collaborative research environment. New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating universitywide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Responsibilities

  • Independently performs specialized laboratory experiments using molecular, cellular, and tissue-based assays.
  • Conducts in vitro experiments, including cell culture and molecular biology techniques, as well as in vivo (mouse) studies, including basic animal handling and tissue collection, following approved protocols.
  • Maintains accurate experimental records in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with protocol development, optimization, and day-to-day laboratory operations.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies.
  • Compiles data and assist with preparation of figures and summaries for reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Supports and assists with training of students and new laboratory personnel.
  • Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
