About The Position

The Respite and Enrichment Coordinator will manage Belong’s programs, providing respite opportunities for families of people with disabilities by creating enrichment programs for adults and children with disabilities. Additionally, they will oversee support programs for siblings and parents of people with disabilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with adults and children with disabilities. Experience may be work experience, extensive volunteer experience, or personal experience.
  • Comfortable using email, creating documents on the Google suite, and learning organization-specific software if needed
  • Must be a committed Christian comfortable working in a United Methodist church environment.

  • Special preference may be given to applicants with advanced degrees or certifications in disability-related fields such as special education.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of OWLS (Out With Loving Sitters) Respite Program
  • Plan and implement regular Night OWLS respite nights (at least monthly during the school year). Assess potential for program growth both in number of families served and frequency of the program.
  • Plan and implement OWLS Family Camp in partnership with Camp John Marc annually in mid-October.
  • Coordinate and work closely with a team of contractors, including nurses, program support, contract child care, and/or behavior support, and contracted program elements.
  • Communicate with families and volunteers about the program and manage staffing and attendance.
  • Manage participant intake and enrollment for the OWLS program in accordance with Belong’s process.
  • Oversight of Belong Adult Day Programs Enrichment Program
  • Plan and manage two afternoons per week of high-quality day classes for adults with disabilities during the regular school year.
  • Recruit, train, and manage contracts for instructors of an average of 8 classes a week during regular programming.
  • Communicate with volunteers, participants, and their families/home supports about the program and manage the registration process.
  • Host “Social Groups” and/or other special programming for participants when classes are not in session.
  • Management of Belong’s Parent and Sibling Support Programs
  • Plan and oversee at least one SibShop event per quarter for the siblings of children with disabilities. Assess potential for partnership with HPUMC’s Youth Ministry to support HPUMC Youth with siblings with disabilities.
  • Plan and communicate about support groups for parents of children and adults with disabilities. Build a partnership with HPUMC’s Pastoral Care and Spiritual Formation teams to ensure Belong families have access to fellowship and the support they need.
  • Independently implement all HPUMC and Belong policies and procedures. Regularly audit processes to identify opportunities for improvement based on program needs, changes, and growth.
  • In partnership with the Belong director, solicit regular feedback from stakeholders, including contractors, volunteers, parents, and Belong staff, on programs.
  • Support Belong’s volunteer recruitment, training, and management goals and processes.
  • Provide coverage for colleagues' programs when needed and able. Provide support as needed at events designated as “all-hands,” such as the Spotlight musical performances.
