Check us out at www.merkinvineyards.org . Position Summary: The Sous Chef is responsible for planning and preparing food in the restaurant and supervising other kitchen staff. This job is ideal for someone who is : Team oriented and appreciates providing support to others while expecting support in return. Dependable and reliable in relation to their work schedule and work duties. Adaptable and flexible to a dynamic workplace that is structured but also evolving. Requirements

  • Five years or more experience in a full-service restaurants, to include pizza experience.
  • Yavapai County Food Worker Certificate. ( https://yavapaiaz.gov/chs/ )

Responsibilities

  • Oversees food preparation and cooking.
  • Prepares meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the hiring and training of new kitchen staff.
  • Properly measures kitchen ingredients and food portions.
  • Ensures kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements.
  • Uses kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation.
  • Manages kitchen inventory and ensures supplies are fresh and of high quality.
  • Ensures proper food temperatures when cooking and storage after.
  • Keeps workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized according to sanitation standards.
  • Facilitates kitchen opening and closing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
