About The Position

This position serves as the Communication and Outreach Coordinator of the Sibling Aggression and Abuse Research and Advocacy Initiative (SAARA), and reports to the Director of SAARA. The Communication and Outreach Coordinator will manage communication strategies, create content for various SAARA communications channels, including social media, organize trainings, webinars, and public engagement activities, and build relationships with partners and media.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree by the date of hire in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in related field.
  • Proficiency at executing communication strategies across various channels.
  • Experience with graphic design and video/photo editing software, including Adobe and Canva.
  • Experience with contact software, including Constant Contact.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and strong organizational skills.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences orally and in written work.
  • Extremely strong attention to detail.
  • Critical analysis coupled with being self-directed with excellent decision-making qualities.
  • Ability to work independently on a daily basis, work well in a team, and across disciplines collaboratively.
  • Effective in managing timelines and budgets.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize research for non-scientific audiences.
  • Effectively engage in advocacy and outreach.
  • Exercise independent thinking and judgment.
  • Flexible, adaptable.
  • Remote work is possible, but location will need to be validated before an offer can be extended.
  • At least six (6) annual in-person visits to Durham, NH campus are required.
  • Some domestic travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation (35%): Create content for SAARA website, including items related to promotion of SAARA and its events and news. Draft, design, and produce social media posts, press releases, and newsletters. Assist with design and content of SAARA materials to communicate research findings and best practices for educators, human service workers, parents, clinicians, researchers, and health care communities in-person, in print and through the web and social media. Assist with editing drafts of SAARA’s collection of policy briefs, Op-Eds, research publications, Psychology Today blog, and other publications.
  • Media, public, and stakeholder relations and engagement (25%): Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and manage public relations activities. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, funders, potential donors, collaborators, organizations, agencies, and community members. Collaboratively assemble an evolving innovative network of researchers, media, funders, survivors, and advocates to increase awareness and provide guidance. Plan and execute fundraising campaigns. Identify individuals engaged in work related to SAARA’s mission and goals to advance its mission. Plan, coordinate, and execute events, outreach, and promotional activities. Manage SAARA’s Constant Contact email list, distribute newsletters, and track analytics Seek corporate or private sponsorship.
  • Digital Management (20%): Manage SAARA’s website, including regular updates and tracking analytics. Manage social media platforms by executing SAARA’s communication strategy, designing campaigns and promotional activities, engaging with followers, and tracking analytics. Post blogs to SAARA’s Psychology Today blog. Oversight of student media assistants.
  • Strategic Planning (10%): Develop and execute communication and outreach strategies aligned with SAARA’s organization goals. Make recommendations for SAARA’s strategic planning, vision, and sustainability.
  • Administrative duties (10%): Coordinate and maintain list of past, current, and prospective presentation opportunities. Maintain list of SAARA accomplishments and highlights. Track and analyze engagement metrics, and report on the impact of outreach activities. Work on program activities related to SAARA independently and collaboratively. Assist with SAARA staff management regarding ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and contribute to a supportive environment that promotes collaboration and organizational success.
