Timberline (FBTL) is seeking a Project based Safety Advisor to work directly with the HSE Manager to support the implementation and execution of the project Health & Safety program for a large-scale transmission construction project. T his position is field-focused and provides day-to-day safety support to crews while ensuring alignment with Company standards, Client requirements, and regulatory obligations. This role works closely with Construction & Project Management, supervisors, and field crews to ensure safe work planning, regulatory compliance, and proactive hazard management across multiple crews and work fronts. The Project Safety Advisor plays a critical role in driving field engagement, supporting incident prevention, and reinforcing a strong, proactive safety culture throughout project execution. Location: Project Location Midwest USA Rotation: 4 weeks on, 1 week off Schedule: 6 days on, 1 day off, 12 hours per day

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of dedicated experience as an HSE practitioner in the powerline or utility construction industry.
  • Prior experience as a Journeyman Lineman or field craft professional is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting transmission or large project-based construction environments.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline preferred.
  • Professional safety certification (CUSP, CSP, CRSP, or equivalent) preferred or in progress.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain and maintain U.S. work authorization.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment and site-specific drug and alcohol testing.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Complete background screening and criminal record checks as required.
  • This is a site-based role operating on a rotational schedule. The anticipated rotation is four (4) weeks on / one (1) week off, working six (6) days on and one (1) day off (Sundays), with twelve (12) hour workdays, OT after 40 hours. Rotation and schedule are subject to project needs and construction sequencing, and flexibility to adjust during critical phases is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day safety guidance to supervisors, forepersons, and field personnel on safe work practices and hazard controls.
  • Maintain a visible and consistent field presence across active work fronts.
  • Support tailboard meetings, pre-job planning, and field safety discussions.
  • Assist crews with hazard identification, risk mitigation, and safe work execution.
  • Actively promote a Human Performance and Energy-Based Safety culture.
  • Lead by example and reinforce company and client safety expectations.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and safety observations.
  • Assist in hazard assessments and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, client requirements, and company standards.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Support development of safe work procedures and hazard/risk registers.
  • Participate in project safety audits and regulatory inspections.
