About The Position

The Safety Assistant supports both the Safety and Human Resources departments by performing routine safety inspections, maintaining compliance documentation, and assisting with essential HR clerical tasks. This hybrid entry level role helps ensure a safe, organized, and compliant workplace while providing reliable administrative support across both functions. Key Responsibilities Safety Inspections and Field Support Conduct routine inspections of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, first aid kits, ladders, and other life safety equipment. Record inspection results, report deficiencies, and track corrective actions. Assist with safety drills, PPE distribution, and basic safety demonstrations. Support hazard identification efforts and help maintain clean and safe work areas. Safety Compliance and Documentation Maintain accurate records of inspections, training attendance, SDS files, and regulatory documentation. Prepare checklists, logs, and simple reports for internal audits or compliance reviews. Assist with scheduling safety trainings, meetings, and follow ups. Help create and distribute safety communications, posters, and onboarding materials. HR Administrative Support Assist with new hire onboarding by preparing packets, collecting required documents, and ensuring forms are completed accurately. Maintain organized employee files both digital and physical in accordance with company policy. Support HR with data entry, attendance tracking, and updating employee information. Help schedule interviews, orientations, and training sessions. Provide front line support to employees seeking HR forms, information, or assistance. Assist with clerical tasks such as scanning, filing, copying, and preparing basic correspondence. General Administrative Duties Maintain calendars, schedule meetings, and support departmental communication. Assist with distributing memos, notices, and policy updates. Help ensure consistent documentation practices across Safety and HR.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
  • Basic computer skills including email, spreadsheets, and digital forms.
  • Comfortable working in both office and shop or field environments.
  • Professional communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional coursework in safety or HR is a plus.
