About The Position

The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing emergency response plans, training staff, and coordinating with local and state agencies to ensure effective responses to emergencies. Will also ensure a safe and compliant workplace by coordinating policies, conducting inspections and implementing safety programs. Will be responsible for coordinating the Workers' Compensation claims and billing, and collaboration with insurance.

Requirements

  • An Associate or Bachlor's degree in Healthcare, Law Enforcement, Public Safety or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of health and safety experience or similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard office equipment and software, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, copier, fax, Microsoft Word, and Excel analytics.

Nice To Haves

  • Health and safety certifications are nice to have. (OSHA standards)

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to address various potential emergencies including natural disasters and man-made incidents.
  • Conduct training sessions and drills for staff and stakeholders to ensure familiarity with emergency protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with conducting risk assessments, developing and implementing risk mitigations strategies, creating and updating risk policies for Physical Environment and Emergency Operation Plan (EOP), monitoring and reporting risk activities to senior management.
  • Collaborate with local emergency services, government agencies, and community organizations to ensure a unified response during emergencies.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents and health problems
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Reviews of accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility. Coordinate investigation and problem solve with Director/manager of areas with events that incurred accident.
  • Collaborates with insurance company regarding Workers' compensation, drafts reports, develops and maintains system of documentation.
  • Develops and implements a system to report, monitor and correct safety problems (SVA, HVA)
  • Review of confidential information for patient/employee involving personal, medical and legal information. Must have the ability to maintain and protect confidential information.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) for effective interaction with all levels of staff, vendors, and Legal professionals.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
