About The Position

Our By Light Implementation team, the premier provider of innovative Information Technology (IT) services and communications support to the Department of Defense and Federal Agencies is growing. We’re increasing our team to support the US Army Comprehensive Modernization (COMPMOD). The program includes conducting survey and design, engineer, furnish, install, secure, and test (EFIS&T) solutions to include non-secure internet protocol router (NIPR), secure internet protocol router (SIPR), Wi-Fi, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Inside Plant (ISP), Outside Plant (OSP), and Voice Modernization at U.S. Army Base/Post/Camp/Station (B/P/C/S) across the Continental United States (CONUS). We have an opening for a Safety Officer responsible for developing and overseeing safety protocols for the TOPM as part of COMPMOD, ensuring team members are well-informed on emergency preparedness, use of protective equipment, and accident procedures.

Requirements

Five plus (5+) years of safety management experience in networking or similar industry
OSHA 500/510 certification
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting statistics
Experience with trench safety, confined space entry, and energized systems
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
Proficiency with safety reporting software and Microsoft Office Suite
SECRET Clearance required
Willing to travel as needed
Ability to lift 30Lbs

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Network Engineering, or related field preferred.
Excellent knowledge of OSHA standards and federal safety legislation
CSP, CHST, or other professional certifications strongly preferred
Solid understanding of potentially hazardous materials and practices in the workplace.
Familiarity with writing health and safety policies and procedures
Working knowledge of safety management software

Responsibilities

Manages the overall and Site-Specific Safety and Health Policy and Procedures (SSP)
Serves as the primary safety resource and authority for the overall program
Conducts regular job site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, NESC, and company safety policies
Manages and maintains documentation related to safety training, incident reporting, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance
Provides safety leadership and support for field crews and Assistant Safety Manager during high-risk tasks such as excavation near live utilities, working around traffic, operating heavy equipment, and working in confined spaces.
Conducts and documents Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans, and Safety Briefings
Leads in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and track implementation of corrective/preventive actions
Assists the TOPM to coordinate with Army customers, project managers, and subcontractors to plan safe work practices
Ensures proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Monitor compliance with DOT regulations for drivers and vehicles used in utility operations
Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulations and update company policies as needed
Presents safety information and documentation to the TOPM and customer as required
Understands all the elements of system safety engineering to include hazard analyses, hazard categorization (in terms of severity and likelihood), end effects, causal analyses, mitigation requirements identification, documentation, tracking and implementing, and residual risk assessment.
Typically interfaces with hardware and software design engineering and test engineering to include Integrated Product Teams (IPT).
Typical analyses performed include; functional analyses, hazard analyses, safety requirements analyses, hazard mitigation, safety risk assessments, reliability analyses, and system residual risk assessments.
Reviews and evaluates systems and software for adherence to government or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety.
Confirms design mitigations are captured in the design and its documentation and verifies implementation as appropriate.
