About The Position

Adams Land and Cattle is seeking a self-starter to champion our safety and training culture throughout our company. This individual would be responsible for creating training content, as well as planning, implementing and maintaining a variety of safety and training programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and our animals. This person will be responsible for: Safety Promoting a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention while assuring regulatory compliance standards are met. Developing, coordinating, and tracking new hire and annual safety trainings. Overseeing incident investigations and reporting, coordinating investigation efforts with operations personnel, conducting root-cause and trend analysis and overseeing the implementation of corrective actions. Leading all weekly safety and AVIS Leader meetings. Assisting with hazard assessments, safety audits and safety walkthroughs, assisting with third party assessments and developing corrective action plans to address deficiencies. Meeting with stakeholders regularly an understanding the safety requirements in detail. Presenting safety improvement recommendations to operations and/or business leadership. Training Scheduling, conducting, coordinating and monitoring onboarding training for new hires and transfers in Cattle Operations and Lot Support areas. Directing and instructing trainees during classroom, hands-on and on-the-job training assignments. Assuring documentation and maintaining tracking of all new hire training. Serves as the single point of fully releasing an individual to work. Evaluating performance during training and follows up on individual learning through periodic visits, observations and refresher training. Working with supervisors to analyze job tasks and current performance to determine training needs and program content. Assisting with the development of technical trainings, onboarding verifications and level-based testing requirements throughout operations. Providing updates, enhancements, and revisions to training programs and procedures. Reviews potential revisions with technical experts, supervisors and other appropriate personnel to provide operational input.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; can substitute 2 years of related experience may be substituted with an Associate’s degree; 4 years of experience may be substituted with a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience within the livestock industry.
  • Active listening, exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Strong analytical, planning, time management and coordination skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work and lead in a team environment with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated ability to create strong working relationships.
  • Ability to influence and solicit buy-in from a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Objective, critical thinker, who can challenge assumptions.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Project, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Willingness to have schedule flexibility and travel as needed.
  • Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work fluctuating hours, weekends, and holidays, in addition to being on an on-call weekend rotation.
  • Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 25-50 lbs. of force frequently; 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
  • Standing and sitting frequently; occasionally walking, carrying, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, stairs, reaching/handling/grasping, and kneeling/crouching.

  • Strong working knowledge of Adams processes and procedures is a plus.
  • Previous experience training others.
