Job Posting Title: Scheduling Specialist I Location: Dallas - Hospital Additional Posting Details: PRN (Per Diem) On-site, non-hybrid As-needed basis Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:00pm; 8:00am-4:30pm; 8:30am-5:00pm Hours may vary according to operational demands during high census and staffing gaps Job Description: Responsibilities Greet patients/families in a professional and welcoming manner Performs scheduling and registration process for appointments within the ambulatory setting Functions as a liaison between patients, families, and intradepartmental staff Performs check-in and check-out for patient visits Greet callers in a professional and welcoming manner, field questions, and assist in making patient appointments Screen and route inbound/outbound calls in a timely manner; includes creating telephone encounters as necessary Performs patient intake/referral process; appropriately scheduling appointments according to scheduling algorithm/protocols Performs scheduling of new and/or follow-up patient visits, including, but not limited to diagnostic and ancillary appointments (as needed); may require coordination with clinical team Communicate appointment details with patients, provide necessary instructions, and appropriately answer questions Performs scheduling and pre-registration process for appointments within the ambulatory setting, including, but not limited to confirming, cancelling, and rescheduling appointments, as needed Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights Obtain accurate collection of patient demographics, insurance coverage, and other relevant information Promote and assist patients/families in signing up for MyChart Functions as a liaison between patients, families, clinical care teams, intradepartmental staff, and community provider offices Maintains and distributes incoming departmental faxes Maintains and acts on individual email and Inbasket pools and messages Scanning of clinical record information and correspondence into patient’s electronic record Maintains scheduling, registration, and referral work queues in Epic Responsible for meeting telephone system metrics and any other productivity standards set by the department, which may include length of call, length of answer time, and number of calls taken within a specific period Maintains patient information and documentation in electronic medical record Supports hospital and departmental performance improvement goals Supports quality care through compliance with departmental and organizational policies and guidelines, and external agency guidelines, standards, or regulations Supports departmental initiatives and change efforts Practices financial and resource stewardship Engages in strong communication and acts as team player in supporting mission and vision of organization Additional duties as assigned At Scottish Rite for Children, we work together with the common goal of helping give children back their childhood.
