As an Armed Patrol Officer in a government corrections location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to calls for assistance, document observations, and communicate clearly with staff and visitors while modeling Allied Universal values of agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, and integrity. This role calls for professionalism and a calm, people-first approach.

Requirements

  • An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or contractors by following site-specific security-related procedures, post orders, and reporting requirements at a government correctional location.
  • Carry and maintain assigned duty weapon and related equipment in accordance with Allied Universal policies, site policies, and applicable laws, including completing required checks and documentation.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and/or disturbances in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with site personnel and public agencies as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas, monitoring for unusual activity and helping to deter unauthorized access and/or prohibited items.
  • Complete detailed security-related reports, activity logs, and/or evidence preservation steps as required, including timely notification and escalation through the chain of command.
